full circle.

It's funny how life works some times. I love how sometimes things just come full circle. When I was a Freshmen, I received so much love and food. Now, I try to give as much love and food as possible.

One of the highlights of my Freshmen year was when my family group Second Serve went on a snowboarding trip. So, this year Mo and I decided it'd be appropriate to allow our frosh and fg to have the same experience.

Props to Ms. Bak.

Btw, I'm pretty sure I got at least like 4 ft on that jump. Haha, maybe more like 4 inches.

hanging loose

Today, Eddie and I went boarding at Snowcreek and we had a blast. As I was up there getting bumps and bruises while carving down the slopes, I began thinking, who came up with this crazy idea anyways? I got it, let's strap a piece of plastic to our feet and see how quickly we can move down the slope!

Anyways, being on the slopes, I became amazed by how skillful people are on snow. We saw people flying 15 feet in the air, doing 360 turns, and tail grabs. As for myself, I was excited to carve down the black diamond in one piece. Let me tell you that there are few things as beautiful and therapeutic as carving down an empty mountain lit by the moonlight and stars.

In case you just look at pictures instead of reading, here's the drawing again with notes.

One day soon, it'll be me up there hanging loose. Until then, I'm going to rest my old, aching body.

Bruised and Broken, Part II

So, I just got back from another day snowboarding at the Poconos and I'm even more bruised and broken. Today the weather was absolutely amazing and the company was great as well. I went with the '09 Brothers and we tore that mountain up.

But seriously at the end of the day it was as if we had gotten in a huge rumble. Here are the injuries that we acquired: jammed pinkey, busted lip, bruised tailbone, and another possible concussion (courtesy of yours truly).

We were beaten up, but you should've seen the mountain. Pictures to come!

Bruised and Broken

So I just returned from my trip snowboarding at the Poconos with some friends, it was a great trip and just what I needed before school starts tomorrow. There are two things that I learned on the slopes today:

1. How to carve. After I had perfectly mastered the art of leafing I thought I was ready to take the next big step. It was definitely a tough step but well worth it in the end.

2. I'm not THAT young anymore. When I was a child I thought I was invincible and I lived with no fear. That certainly is not the case anymore. My body is aching and covered with bruises, also I think there is a chance I got a minor concussion after catching an edge.

But it was definitely worth the pain and suffering. Snowboarding is kind of like life... you can spend all your time comfortably leafing on the bunny slopes or you can go all out and try to learn how to carve on the black diamonds. Sure you might get bumps and bruises along the way, but it will be all the more rewarding at the bottom. Let's rock this semester!
